When it comes to social media advertising, Facebook is by far the most popular network of choice. Behind the market leader however, things are less clear. According to a research report by [Social Fresh](https://training.socialfresh.com/fos16), Instagram is quickly gaining popularity among marketers and could soon take Twitter’s place as the second most important social advertising channel. According to Facebook’s most recent earnings report, more than 200,000 businesses advertise on Instagram each month. Given the network’s [steady rise in popularity](https://www.statista.com/statistics/253577/number-of-monthly-active-instagram-users/) and the fact that its advertising offerings became available in more than 30 new countries on September 30, we can expect that number to grow a lot further in the future.
