U.S. Authorities Like Facebook's User Data

Written by David Carpenter | November 13, 2015

Facebook's most recent transparency report reveals that the amount of government requests for user data is surging. In the first half of this year, requests were up 18 percent from 35,051 in the second half of 2014 to 41,214 in the first half of 2015. As usual, U.S. authorities were the most hungry for Facebook's user data, with India and the UK following a distant second and third. Facebook said that it was able to comply with some data in just under 80 percent of requests between January and June of this year.

This chart shows the number of government requests for Facebook user data in the first half of 2015.
