Which U.S. States Have The Fastest Internet Speeds?

Written by David Carpenter | May 13, 2016

According to Akamai, internet connection speed averaged 14.2 megabytes per second (mbps) for U.S. internet users in the last quarter of 2015, considerably slower than South Korea (26.7 mbps) or Japan (17.4 mbps). However, some states do have connection speeds faster than the national average. American internet users have the highest speeds in D.C. (a federal district rather than a state) averaging 21.3 mbps followed by Delaware and Rhode Island.
